Hey, I'm Jason - Welcome to My Hardware Workshop
I've spent years building embedded systems, IoT devices, and Edge AI applications. Some worked on the first try. Most didn't. And honestly? The failures taught me way more than the successes.
This blog is where I share all of it - the wins, the weird debugging sessions at 2am, and the techniques I wish someone had told me when I started.
What You'll Find Here
I'm not interested in writing generic tutorials you can find anywhere. Instead, I focus on:
The stuff that actually matters:
- Why your USB-C Power Delivery negotiation is failing (spoiler: it's usually timing)
- How I got 53 days of battery life from a coin cell on Tracer2
- The PCB layout mistakes that cost me three board revisions
- Real power consumption numbers, not datasheet fantasies
Project deep-dives:
- Spark Analyzer: A USB-C PD analyzer I built because commercial options cost $200+
- Plant-Bot: A solar-powered sensor that's been running for 6 months without intervention
- Tracer2: A wearable sensor platform that actually fits in your pocket
Why I'm Writing This
Here's the thing: the embedded community is generous. I've learned from countless blog posts, forum threads, and open-source projects. This is me paying it forward.
Plus, writing forces me to actually understand what I'm doing. Nothing exposes fuzzy thinking like trying to explain something clearly.
What's Coming Up
I've got a backlog of posts I'm working on:
- USB-C Power Delivery: A practical guide that doesn't assume you've memorized the PD spec
- Ultra-Low Power Design: How to go from days to months of battery life
- ESP32-C3 vs C6: Based on actually building products with both
- Solar IoT: Making devices that run forever (or close to it)
Let's Connect
I'd genuinely love to hear from you. Whether you're:
- Stuck on a project and need a second opinion
- Working on something cool you want to share
- Have a topic you want me to cover
Reach out through the contact form or find me on GitHub.
Every project I build is open source. If something here helps you ship your own hardware, that's the whole point.
Let's build something.
